- How much does a bespoke kandura cost in Abu Dhabi?
- A Misrah kandura starts at AED 315 including VAT, and AED 290 if you hand back an old kandura for recycling. The price covers the fabric, the hand cutting and finishing, the home visit, delivery, and alterations for as long as you own it. There is no separate fitting or delivery charge.
- How long does it take to make a kandura?
- Five to seven days is typical. When the workshop is quiet it can be as fast as two days. You are measured at home, the kandura is cut and sewn in our Abu Dhabi workshop, and it is delivered to you.
- Do you come to my home to take measurements?
- Yes. The home visit is free anywhere in Abu Dhabi and there is no obligation to order. A tailor brings fabric samples, takes your measurements, and you choose the details in person.
- What is the difference between an Emirati and a Kuwaiti kandura?
- They are cut differently at the neck and collar. The Emirati kandura has no collar and is finished with a tarboosh, the tassel at the throat. The Kuwaiti style has a shirt collar and buttons, and no tarboosh. We measure and make both, and the neck is recorded separately for each so the fit is right.
- What fabric do you use?
- Japanese fabric, which is what most of Abu Dhabi's better tailoring uses for its weight and how it holds a press in the heat. You choose the family and the weight at the fitting from physical samples, not a photograph.
- Are alterations free?
- Yes, for as long as you own the kandura, anywhere in Abu Dhabi. Bodies and preferences change, and a kandura that no longer fits is not a kandura you wear.
- Can I get money off for an old kandura?
- Yes. Hand back an old kandura and you get AED 25 off a new one, per kandura. The old ones go to our recycling partners rather than to landfill.
- Do you make kanduras for children?
- Yes. Children are measured at the same home visit, and child pricing is lower than adult. A household can order for several people on one visit and one invoice.
- Where are you based?
- Misrah Tailoring L.L.C. is in Abu Dhabi, and we serve Abu Dhabi. The workshop is ours, so the cutting and finishing are done by our own tailors rather than sent out.
